Science diplomacy

About the section

cience diplomacy is a vital tool for addressing pressing global challenges such as restoring planetary health, managing ethical implications of digitalization, and navigating international conflicts amid geopolitical disorder. It leverages scientific insights and evidence to guide foreign policy and foster collaboration through a dynamic "science system" of state and private institutions, natural and social sciences, and diplomatic actors. Recent events, such as the existing geopolitical difference and COP29, highlight its complexities, from ethical dilemmas like scientific sanctions to the challenges of achieving climate action consensus. To advance these efforts, Frontiers Policy Labs brings together experts from science, politics, and policy to build consensus and drive solutions, emphasizing the critical role of science diplomacy in shaping a sustainable and cooperative global future.
